1/4 Cup Butter
2-1/2 Cups (8 oz) elbow macaroni
1 Cup cubed cooked Ham
2 Cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or cubed Am. Cheese 8oz)
3 T all purpose Flour
1/2 t Salt
1/8 t black pepper
4 Cups Milk
In a 2 to 3 quart saucepan, melt butter over med. heat. Pour 2 T of butter into 2 to 2-1/2 quart casserole or baking dish. Add macaroni, stir to coat with butter. Add ham , stir in cheese.
Stir flour, salt and pepper into the remaining 2 T butter in saucepan. Stir in milk. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for one minute more. Pour sauce over macaroni mixture.
Bake, covered, in a 325 degree oven 1 hour (or until macaroni is tender.
Stir, let stand 20 minutes before serving.
